👍 Scope of the job

As our iGaming Data Journalist, you will collaborate closely with our content, outreach, and product teams to create impactful data-driven narratives that inform, engage, and inspire our audience.

Your goal will be to help our brands establish themselves as main sources of information regarding iGaming. How? By creating factual content with a unique angle based on our team’s knowledge of the industry and your own investigations and data analysis.

Under the guidance of our Outreach Manager and with the assistance of freelancers and in-house writers, you will ensure that all content is not just fresh, fully original, and ground-breaking but also expertly written in our target languages, Portuguese and Spanish.

From a remote position (based in Brazil or Peru) and with ample flexibility, you will identify the most newsworthy topics to cover and ensure that all media produced is visually engaging and adheres to UX best practices.

Excellent communication, a go-getter attitude, plenty of agency, inborn curiosity, and the ability to create and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders are key for this role.

✔️ What You'll Do

• Research and stay up-to-date with the latest trends, developments, and news within the iGaming industry in LatAm (especially Peru, Chile, and Brazil).
• Build and maintain relationships with industry sources, experts, and contacts to gather exclusive information and insights.
• Source, clean, and analyze information and datasets from various public and private sources.
• Work closely with our product team to identify opportunities for data-driven stories.
• Interpret data and uncover trends, patterns, and insights, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the analysis process.
• Develop compelling narratives based on data findings, making complex information accessible to a general audience.
• Collaborate with in-house writers or freelancers to prepare clear, concise, and engaging articles, reports, and visualizations that explain data trends and their implications.
• Create and design data visualizations (charts, graphs, infographics) that enhance the storytelling process and produce interactive data-driven content.
• Ensure visualizations are accurate, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly.
• Participate in content meetings and contribute ideas for stories that can be enhanced by data analysis.
• Monitor and analyze website analytics and user engagement metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize our strategy for data-driven content.

We’re looking for a no-drama team player who embodies integrity, agility, and drive. We believe you can thrive in our team if you:

• Have 1-2 years experience as a data-driven journalist working for an online publication in fields such as sports, law, tax, or business.
• Have experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, D3.js, Flourish, or similar.
• Stay on top of local market trends and developments that can take us to the next level.
• Maintain ethical standards and adhere to journalistic principles, including accuracy, fairness, and unbiased reporting.
• Are a veritable ideas factory, from ideation to delivery, when it comes to newsworthy content. You can both identify which topics to cover before they’re out there and deliver the right media to engage our audience and get maximum coverage.
• Familiarity with web scraping, APIs, and other data-gathering techniques is a plus.
• Work autonomously within a goal-oriented framework.
• Enjoy participating actively in the decision-making process.
• Feel all icky if you’re not paying attention to detail.
• Have the ambition to stay on top of your game.
