👍 Scope of the job
We are looking for a People Operations Lead to become the architect of our employee experience at Alts. While you'll own critical People Ops processes, your primary focus will be ensuring every team member feels valued, supported, and genuinely excited to be part of our journey. In our remote environment, you'll be instrumental in building authentic connections, fostering our culture, and continuously improving how we support our people. You'll spot opportunities to enhance the employee experience and turn them into reality, whether through better processes, innovative solutions, or simply making sure everyone feels heard and cared for.
✔️ What You'll Do
Core People Operations
Employee Lifecycle Management: Execute end-to-end processes including onboarding, offboarding, compensation reviews, contract management, benefits administration, and leave coordination
Data Management: Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in our HRIS (Humaans)
Compliance: Ensure adherence to Portuguese labor laws and maintain comprehensive internal documentation
Travel Coordination: Manage business travel logistics including flights, accommodation, and itineraries
Employee Support & Experience
Primary Support: Serve as first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries, providing timely and empathetic assistance
Recruitment Support: Coordinate full-cycle recruitment processes
People Programs: Support engagement surveys, performance management cycles, and learning & development initiatives
Employer Branding: Collaborate on initiatives to strengthen our employer brand
Events: Plan and execute virtual and in-person team events, including our signature Workation 🏖️
Process Optimization & Innovation
Workflow Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement streamlined People Ops processes
Automation: Reduce manual work through AI tools and process automation
Analytics: Leverage HR metrics to drive data-informed decisions
Job requirements
🧠 Your attitude & background
3+ years of experience in People/HR roles in Portugal or Portugal-based companies
Degree in Human Resources, Work Psychology or similar
Solid knowledge of Portuguese labor law
Experience working in startups or scale-ups is a plus
Comfort with HRIS platforms (we use Humaans)
Experience or interest in HR analytics and AI
Fluency in English and Portuguese
